Snowboard Bindings

How to Choose Snowboard Bindings

Start with how and where you ride, then narrow it down with these key features:

• Flex: Softer bindings feel playful and forgiving for beginners, park laps, and jibbing; stiffer bindings deliver quicker response for carving, speed, and big mountain riding.
• Riding style: Freestyle riders usually prefer a softer, surfy feel; all-mountain riders want a balanced medium flex; freeride riders benefit from stiffer highbacks and stronger power transfer.
• Highback: Taller, stiffer highbacks support heelside turns at speed; shorter, softer highbacks allow more freedom for tweaks and butters.
• Straps and ratchets: Look for supportive ankle and toe straps with smooth ratchets you can adjust with gloves on.
• Cushioning: Padded footbeds and baseplates reduce chatter and soften hard landings.

Union Bindings and Salomon Snowboard Bindings

Union bindings are known for durable construction and a reliable, locked-in feel. The Union Force is one of the brand's most popular all-mountain bindings, with a responsive feel that suits riders working on everything from groomers to side hits. Watch for Union Force sale pricing in our collection when seasonal discounts are available. The Union lineup also includes the Strata, Ultra and Atlas Pro for riders who want more performance, along with women's models like the Juliet, Rosa, Trilogy and Legacy, and youth options in the Cadet series.

Salomon snowboard bindings offer great value across ability levels. The Rhythm is a smart choice for newer riders; the District and Hologram bring a lively, freestyle feel for park and creative riding.

Snowboard Binding Sizing and Compatibility Tips

• Match your binding size to your snowboard boots using the brand's size chart; most brands size bindings as S, M, and L by boot size.
• Your boot should sit snugly in the binding with no heel lift and minimal toe or heel overhang.
• Most bindings mount to standard 4x4, 2x4 and channel inserts; double-check your snowboard's mounting pattern before you buy.
• Set stance width close to shoulder width; many all-mountain riders start with a duck stance of roughly +15 and ‑15 degrees and adjust from there.
• Bring your boots when you shop in store so we can check the fit in person.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know what size snowboard bindings to buy?

Snowboard binding size depends on your boot size and is listed on each brand's size chart. If you fall between sizes, try your boots in both; you want a snug fit with no heel lift.

Are snowboard bindings universal?

Most snowboard bindings fit most snowboards, since they include baseplates or discs for 4x4, 2x4, and channel mounting systems. Always confirm your board's insert pattern and your binding's compatibility before ordering.

What flex should a beginner choose?

Beginners usually progress fastest on soft to medium flex snowboard bindings. A forgiving flex makes turns easier to start and reduces the chance of catching an edge.
