When wearing the jacket alone it feels light and has a thin layer of insulation. Feels like it will serves its purpose of being an outer layer with a small amount of insulation. It has room for a base and mid layer without feeling overly stuffed. If buying this jacket your are probably not in severe weather conditions anyways so it will serve its purpose of protecting you in nicer conditions to less severe snowy conditions. The bottom does flare out enough to give the room needed for snowboarding but does not make it look weird if wearing around town. Really great jacket for the sale price and decent jacket for the full price.
